Inside Out 04:06
Absence I know you become my friend. It starts and then I feel. Laughter filters through cracks in pavement. Echoing vacancy. Headlights come quickly. Rushing towards me. Take me home. I feel a pulsing inside out. Don't be so frustrated. I just called to say good night. And I hope you're well. I just called to say good night. I just called to say good night. Shadows grow longer, day into dark. I am counting the hours until I. (I feel a pulsing inside outside, inside out). Concrete gray landscape empty and still. I hear sound I hear sound in this silence. (I feel a pulsing inside outside, inside out). Broken glass sparkles, stardust fallen. Beauty that hurts. I feel a pulsing inside out. Don't be so frustrated. I just called to say good night. And I hope you're well. I just called to say good night. I just called to say good night. You'll be sleeping soon. I look through my window. Are you dreaming now. Maybe I'll cross through. Are you dreaming now. Maybe I'll cross through.

Fireflies 04:11
I am happy. You are glory. Fireflies fly around. The world slows down. I'm not one for rhyming. I'm not one for rhyming. But there are spots in my eyes. Spots in my eyes. Ooooo. There is a touch that is deeper than touch. When you say my name. You are you are. There is a touch that is deeper than touch. When you put your hand right through my body. You are staring. I don't blink. I don't look away. Baby there is no room for anyone else. I'm not one for crying. I don't like to cry. But there is space in between. There is a touch that is deeper than touch. When you say my name. You are you are. There is a touch that is deeper than touch. When you put your hand right through my body. There is a touch that is deeper than. There is a touch that is deeper than. You are you are. There is a touch that is deeper than. You are you are.

The Party 03:11
She says there's a piece of me. Left wherever I go. Does that mean there's me and the mustached man. On the couch from the party last night. Does that mean there's me and the mustached man. On the couch from the party last night. What's the old man. Got to do with it. Got to do with it. What's my dreams got. What's my dreams got. Got to do with it. She says the best thing we can hope for is to. Live a little longer. She says there is a way. To keep you when I leave. I connect you to my heart. And then you are with me. In my lonely days. I connect you to my heart. And then you are with me. In my lonely days. What's the old man. Got to do with it. Got to do with it. What's my dreams got. What's my dreams got. Got to do with it. She says the best thing we can hope for is to. She says the best thing we can hope for is to. She says the best thing we can hope for is to. Live a little longer.

Oceans 04:37
You say you may scare me. But I'm not afraid. You take up my space you say. I just want to be where you are. You are an angel. You follow me As I walk through the city. I just want to be where you are. You try to recreate. We are so close. We are not ourselves at all. I just want to be where you are. Watching me with lazy eyes. Pointing out your defects. I blink once I blink twice and then I've. Slipped into your ocean again. You stutter when you feel strange. And you don't know. You don't know these things. I just want to be where you are. You're sighing wait for me. But I have. I have already. I just want to be where you are. You are a little gift I open you slowly. I just want to be where you are. Watching me with lazy eyes. Pointing out your defects. I blink once I blink twice and then I've. Slipped into your ocean again. Slipped into your ocean again. I've slipped into your ocean again. I've slipped into your ocean again.

The Alamo 03:27
Save your prayers for the Alamo. Let the stars guide you down these roads. Save your prayers for the Alamo. Let the stars guide you down these roads. She is broken. He is walking away. We are distant. We are disappearing. And I wonder. What language do you dream in. And I wonder. What country do you call your own. (Where will these stars take me. Will they take me home). And I wonder. What language do you dream in. And I wonder. What country do you call your own. (Where will these stars take me. Will they take me home). What country do you call your own. And I wander. What country do you call your own. And I wander. Save your prayers for the Alamo. Let the stars guide you down these roads. Save your prayers for the Alamo. Let the stars guide you down these roads. He says it's pure desert. She says it's pure dry desire. I've seen it myself. Walking away. Distant disappearing. And I wonder. What language do you dream in. And I wonder. What country do you call your own. (Where will these stars take me. Will they take me home). What country do you call your own. And I wander. What country do you call your own. And I wander.

Surround 06:50
Surround, surround, surround me. Surround, surround, surround me. Give me one give me another. I need a night to plow me under. Remove my clothes remove myself. Beneath the skin the bones you'll find me. Inside out. I don't care, I don't care, I don't. I don't care, I don't. And do what, and do what, my heart beats warm. And do what, and do what, my heart beats warm. My heart beats, my heart beats warmly, whoa whoa. My heart beats, my heart beats strong, whoa. Don't tell me appropriate whoa whoa. You can badly translate. Surround, surround, surround me. You've shown me all you can expose. You, you shock me and I like it. You shock me and I like it.

April Is 06:17
What do you see. An adolescent boy with his faced turned off. What do you see. You're dependency when your skin is taken off. Look at that frown. Look at that puddle. Don't believe umbrellas work. Don't believe you and me can work. Don't see how these things work. Cause you get my cheeks wet. And the rain will get your legs wet and. Suddenly we're drowning. Empty me into the drainpipe, the gutter. Good enough, alright. Empty me into the drainpipe, the gutter. Good enough, alright. The rain keeps coming. April is the cruelest month. The rain keeps coming. April is the cruelest month. What do you see. A constellation of your history What do you see. You're likely to be what you're thinking. Look at that cloud. Look at that mountain. Look at that smile.

Lullaby 04:11
The sky is a blood red orange opening up pushing down on me. It's so clear. The sky is a blood red orange opening up pushing down on me. It's so clear. Don't forget me in the morning. When you close the door and say goodbye. Please turn out the lights now. And kiss me goodnight now. Untangle me up. While I dream of you. Don't forget me in the morning. When you close the door and say goodbye. Please turn out the lights now. And kiss me goodnight now. Untangle me up. While I dream of you.

Call me. You call me up to say. There's a threat out on your life. Well you've had a good life. And a beautiful rest of it all. And I am struck by. The emptiness of words I can offer to you now. The emptiness of this telephone line. Why did I think I knew anything. Why did I think I knew anything. I want to arrive. Why did I think I knew anything. I want to arrive. Years pass. A year has passed now. I wonder how you are. Did you make it through the pain. Or did you move on to that other kind of beautiful rest of it all. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Why did I think I knew anything. I want to arrive. Why did I think I knew anything. I want to arrive. Time goes, I know. Time goes, I know. Call me. I want to pick up the phone. I want to give you call. But I'm too afraid of. The other end of the telephone line. Why did I think I knew anything. I want to arrive. Why did I think I knew anything. I want to arrive. Time goes and changes everything. So why did I think I knew anything. Time goes and changes everything. So why did I think I knew anything.

Who knows what she's thinking. Her lips always lie. The truth escapes her eyes. I hold you in my hand. Are you salvation. Are you salvation. You tell me I'm extraordinary. You tell me I'm extraordinary. But when I reach for you. You turn yourself away from me. I hold you in my hand. Are you salvation. Are you salvation. I hold you in my hand. Are you salvation. Are you salvation. Who knows what she's thinking. Her lips always lie. The truth escapes her eyes.

about

"Brooklyn's Summer Hours has been around since 2001 honing their unique brand of sunny day literate pop filtered through the friendly, intimate voice of frontwoman/bassist Rachel Dannefer. With each new release, their sound becomes more sophisticated without losing the sweet simplicity or refreshing innocence that entranced you in the first place." - The Deli "The album sound is that of a sweeter, higher-pitched Kim Deal singing slow indie pop over simple guitar and bass lines, complemented by subtle harmonies and counterpoint. The hooks will get you humming, the lyrics are wistful and lovely ('broken glass sparkles / stardust falling'), and I LOVE that the cover art refers to the 'mustached man on the couch from the party last night.' If you liked Madder Rose, you will like Summer Hours." - 75 Or Less

75 or Less "Stripped down indie pop. You'll get more than a good dose of boy/girl vocals, laid back drums, meandering twangy guitar riffin and clever lyrics from this record. For some reason it gives me flashbacks to Cake's 'Short Skirt / Long Jacket' period, but i just can't put my finger on why exactly. This is quite enjoyable from start to finish, and anytime a band can do that it's a good thing. Favorite track: The Party, followed closely by the daydreamy groove of Oceans." - Bog Gob

"Really lovely, slow, quiet pop songs, with perfect boy-girl vocals, very much like Mates of State, but with more subdued melodicism. Clean guitars gently jangle behind the beautiful pensive vocals and simple bass and drums, adding just the right accompaniment. Terrific tracks that deserve a lot of attention!" - Clairecords

"Summer Hours helps restore my faith in bands who do it all themselves. This album has not one filler song in it, each track the band grow and grow, by the end of the last track you hit play all over again. Summer Hours sounds like Rainer Maria on downers. The songs aren't as fast and over the top as Rainer Maria, and the girl vocals are just right, not too over the top and not too wispy." - Bees Knees

"Summer Hours won me over with their Luna-esque guitar-centric pop rock and their Low-ish slowcore ballads. This is the kind of pop that is deliberately subtle, played at a walking pace and as slow and delightful as a sunrise. Summer indeedŠwhile the tempo and the restrained energy have you thinking somber pop, Mike's dizzying good axe-work and Rachel's sweet voice keep all that in check. It's a great, charming balance." - Now Wave

"The music is a wistful blend of personable pop, at times minimal, but the dynamic energy level remains well balanced throughout. I really liked Rachel's voice; it has this extremely clear and emotional quality but it isn't over the top like some other indie popsters. She never belts the vocals out but somehow they seem to shoulder the weight of the lyrics quite comfortably. The Party has an intro that sounds like the Aislers Set and mutates later into more of that cool Madder Rose/Rainer Maria type sound. Oceans, a fragile tune with silky smooth bass guitar lines and drum playing that reminded me of Luna's mellower side, ends with the poignant refrain of 'slipped into your ocean again' repeated over and over. The Alamo kind of reminded me of Papas Fritas with its swaying reverbed guitar setting a pretty backdrop for bell-clear boy / girl harmonies. This is a really beautiful album and highly recommended." - Schmat
