oh my girl. please stay strong. please fight hard for me. right then wrong. begging you please to remember. that the skies can open wide. reveal a truth from which we can't hide. it won't lie to you. lie to you. my sweet girl. please stay sane. please stay brave for me. wax then wane. hang on with me until december. when the skies will open wide. reveal a course to which we'll abide. no goodbye from you. goodbye from you. now our eyes are open wide. to reveal the truth that is you and i. never lie to you. lie to you. my sweet little girl. every time that you cry. strips my soul away. my sweet little girl. every time you don't try. my insides die. and the skies will open wide. reveal a truth from which we can't hide. it won't lie to you. lie to you. now our eyes are open wide. to embrace the truth that is you and i. no goodbye from you. goodbye from you

Temporary 02:22
thought this stuff would set us up. all this seemed so necessary. thought this stuff would set us up. would set us up. we set us up. all that shit dragged from the past. all that stuff was tertiary. all that stuff just held us down. it held us down. it left us here reaching out. it left us cold. it left us here broken down. when what we needed was the thing we can't get back. it left us cold. was the thing we can't get back. thought these things could fill us up. all these things were temporary. thought these things could fill us up. could fill us up. we set us up. all the things we thought could last. fatal fall the corollary. all these things they held us down. they held us down. it left us here bleeding out. it left us old. it left us here full of doubt. what we conceded was the thing we can't get back. it left us old. was the thing we can't get back. it left us here with the thing we can't get back. it left us here with the thing we can't get back. we can't get back. we can't get back

Spirit Gum 02:49
remember that night. secrets said. you doubted you'd always want me there. remember that time. fears were fed. i chased you up to the street. one of our lows. how could I make you feel that way. but the road will rise for us. the sun will shine for us. like glue it's stuck to us. remember that place. shields were shed. i wish we could close our eyes and be there. remember that day. we looked dead. we said all there was to say. heaven knows. how did we live another day. but the road will rise for us. the sun will shine for us. like glue we're stuck to us. remember that night. curled in bed. we said all there was to say

Punching Out 02:04
be mindful what you toss way. be careful what you push away. think hard before walking away. are you sleeping real tight. safe and warm. in your own little world tonight. will you burn with the last song you hear. be cautious when you fire away. be wary what you piss away. think twice before fading away. are you sleeping real tight. safe and warm. in your own little world tonight. will you burn with the last song you hear. are you sleeping allright. safe and warm. in your sweet little world tonight. will you learn it's the last song you fear. last song you hear. last song you hear. last song you hear

Wait 04:51
our goal: the corporeal. with brains that ache. this exercise has found no answers. will you wait for me. we search for something real. a thousand times we close our eyes. to what comes after. wait. so afraid of what comes after. we take what we can steal. our bodies ache. we temporize. exhaust the language. but you'll wait to see. we fail to close the deal. a thousand crimes. we shut our eyes. to what comes after

38th & 8th 04:39
do the right thing. we've scratched until it bled. choose the right thing. let's give it half a chance. the world is open. circumvent our circumstances. the door is open. give it half a chance. choose the right one. to this thing we're wed. let's do the right thing. before our dream is dead. the door is open. to adolescent romances. the door is open. give it half a chance. do the right thing. we scratched until it bled. let's choose the right thing. before our dream is dead. the door is open. to adolescent romances. the door is open. welcome to the dance

Sad One 02:13
storm watch it's a bad one. can't stay and you can't run. fight through for some small sun. there's no hiding. it's all so terrifying. but wipe your tiny tears away. this is where you heal. good god you're a sad one. shrunk small when you're undone. some calm is so hard won. there's no hiding. but what's the use in trying. cover up and drift away. this is how you deal. at least for today. and when you feel like dying. when all your hope gets stripped away. this is this is how you heal. this is where you stay well. wipe your tiny tears away

Broken Glass 03:09
phase one you went away. promised in love we'd stay. and that we wouldn't stray. three months ago with hope abound. phase two you made the call. soaked through in alcohol not what you wanted at all. all broken up and broken down. now that you're gone don't have much to say. were we all wrong to think that we could win the day. shaky then strong. even as we walk away our minds are changing. phase three we're on again. when you couldn't find a friend dance with it now and then. might be the one you'd like around. phase four you say goodbye. can't say we didn't try. left here to wonder why shattered on the floor like broken glass. now that you're gone. don't know why i stay. i should have known that our skies could turn. from sun to gray. don't feel too strong. even as we talk away. our hearts are rearranging

my best of friends. this is so familiar. we try to pretend. nothing's wrong. this crutch that we both lean on. tell me that it's fine and dandy. but she said improbable. we're stop and go. we're high and low. and moving slow. just say you'll keep running back to me. improbable she said. my funny friend. this feels so peculiar. the worst ground to defend. we're standing on. these word games you play on me. our language failed us both completely. then you said impossible. it's what we know. it's to and fro. and moving slow. just say you'll keep hanging in with me. improbable she said. my closest friend. looking like the weight of the world. is on your shoulders in my room. where you suffer. there's no upside now. i know you suffer. there's no upside now. i know you suffer. there's no upside. but there's still something left for me. but there's something left for me. i know there's something left for me. i know there's something. something

Home Movies 06:24
like faded photos. home movies in your head. their theme of self-defeating. with insides peeling. a spineless mass without a shell. to have always known this feeling well. the more you want it. the more you slip away. this theme of quick retreating. with insides screaming. through sleepless nights an endless hell. to have always known this feeling. still so self-aware. while you fight for some light through the gloom. the boy is still there. alone on his bed in his room. just laugh at yourself. with thoughts this would somehow be. so damn easy. to have been down there. and remained sane. to choke for some air. and drown in rain. to have always been down there

about

With a barrage of fiery choruses and thunderous hooks, Camber unleashes an intelligent sonic opera on Anyway, I've Been There. Known for their keen ability to write effective and not-so-simple rock songs, this record is fueled by intense post-punk melodies, emotionally-charged vocals and masterful, tension-building guitars. Both melancholic and uplifting, tugging at your heart-strings with a sensitive prowess that's often illuminating but seldom predictable. It's rock and roll with feeling something we don't see much anymore. (DER-375)

"Camber's first album 'Beautiful Charade' was one of the greatest emo-rock albums since Sunny Day Real Estate's 'Diary' or Mineral's 'The Power of Failing.' Singer Barry Lott's vocals, like the singers for those two bands, were breaking, heartfelt, emotional and beautiful. That album pounded forth with driving, intense, almost painful songs that made you want to scream or cry. And Camber's new album, 'Anyway, I've Been There,' is much better. It's that good. The final track, 'Home Movies,' is bound to be a classic. This song is gentle yet intense, beautiful. Lott's vocals shine here more than anywhere else. This song is beautiful and moving. This album represents a maturing for Camber, away from the pigeonholing emo sound that they did so well and into something far greater. Unfortunately, SDRE and Mineral seemed to gain most of their popularity after they broke up. Let's hope Camber, with all the power of these two albums and the ability to consistently just get better, will be here to stay. This is a must-buy, one of my top albums of 1999. Quite possibly the prettiest, deepest rock album I've ever heard. - Delusions of Adequacy

"Complicated and urgent, Camber's sound seems to come from those daring hollows of hope and even elation that surprise us in the darkest, most desperate moments. Still frustrated and intense, it's those bubbles of peace and clarity that feel fresh and unreal; these fertile grounds seem to feed Camber's creative space. Produced by John Agnello, 'Anyway, I've Been There' not only is an instant prerequisite in Emo-Core 101, but it forces a rewrite of the textbook. With Barry Lott's vocals focused, achingly pretty, and tortured, Chris Chin's thoughtful percussion, Joey DellaCroce's near perfect bass and the dynamic guitar playing of Corby Caldwell, this album thinks and feels and moves. Prolific and incredible." - San Diego Weekly

"With their sophomore release, emo-core heavies Camber show how really-good they are at what they do -- evoking melancholy and yearning with enviable adroitness. On songs like "P", "Broken Glass" and "38th & 8th", Camber use droning, fuzzed-out swaths of guitar-noise, subtle, prodding basslines and deftly melodic drum patterns to create a sophisticated backdrop for vocalist Barry Lott's soul-shrieking. And the lyrics, oh the lyrics...they allude to loves lost and lives ruined. It is in the allusions, the implications, that yearning is stirred up within the listener. Camber's lyrics also display rhythmic sophistication; uneven meter and relaxed interpretation make the songs seem to actually sob. It is this uncommonly good songwriting that lifts 'Anyway, I've Been There' above the pack -- Camber are definitely shining stars of their genre." - Splendid
