about

Pneuma is a collision of emo-rock glory, math-y dynamics, waves of complex melody and epic atmospherics...and it's nothing short of stunning. As the title suggests (pneuma is Greek for "breathe"), Moving Mountains has created an album that lives and breathes with each graceful crescendo and every shimmering arpeggio. The complex, multi-layered arrangements are complimented by vague literary references, whose powerful themes enable the music to resonate emotionally without being overly particular. Tossing aside the constrictions that most bands place on their art, Pneuma looks toward the future and transcends boundaries while paying homage to past and contemporary luminaries. At its core, Pneuma is a record that is ambitious in scope without losing sight of the huge-sounding songs and memorable choruses that make it so immediate. Tracks like "8105" run the gamut of textures and tempos. There's a haunting grace in the soaring vocals and layers of sweeping guitars, but Moving Mountains tempers the space-y soundscapes with dizzying percussion and compelling delivery. As massive chord progressions scatter around thundering rhythms and ambient interludes pulse with tension, we're reminded that this amazing amalgamation of sound bridges countless gaps. It's rare for a debut to be so adventurous and instrumentally adept while still focused on riveting, intensely powerful songs. Moving Mountains satisfies, amazes and astounds at every level.

"Once every few years an album comes along and defies all expectations and inspires the inner musician/artist in me. The last album that had the biggest impact on me creatively was The Appleseed Casts' two album set Low Level Owl. These are albums I still listen to on a regular basis and nothing has ever come close to the genius of those albums. Until now. Moving Mountains debut Pneuma is an album that stretches itself more artistically than anything that has come along in the past 8 years. What makes Pneuma so great is how the album flows together as a whole album. Moving Mountains have created a musical movement with Pneuma. Each song relies on and builds from the previous, creating an experience that seems to be left out of most albums today. Like Sigur Ros, Moving Mountains aren't afraid to take the minimalist approach and let songs simply exist. There is no formula here, just honest, pure and passionate songwriting. Moving Mountains have burst onto the music scene with a brilliant debut. This is an album that will transcend time and genres. Pneuma exists on a higher plain than anything I've heard in quite a long time." - Indie Uprising

"Few other acts successfully mix lush, layered post-rock with such emotionally intense personal admissions. That fragility is all too apparent on Pneuma (their sprawling, well-received full-length), where each track carrys emotional weight with earnest vocals, dynamic movements, sparkling chords and cascading climaxes. Despair never sounded so spirited..." - Alternative Press

Track Name: Aphelion
And that's the fire in the sun. And that's the fire in the sky. We are so far away from home. We are so far away from home.
Track Name: Cover The Roots / Lower The Stems
You know it's really hard to do. To think of anyone but you. And how your soul lives in my own. The trees are growing roots that will hold your heart inside your chest where you lay. Fear no more my son. Because someday the trees will sing. And I know that someday will come. Where the trees are growing roots among the place we used to sit and breathe the air. Someday. Someday the trees will sing. "Oh my God! My heart is with you now! And my body's growing roots that will hold your feelings down. And I will sing a song for you. Where a thousand pandas dance under the warmth and ocean blue."
Track Name: Alastika
You are something (something to hold onto). A fault in the crust where I fell through. You live and you learn. But you still love. Nothing will change what I'm made of. We'll run away. "But did you think you'd grow beyond me?" The clouds exclaimed. Just run away.
Track Name: Fourth
instrumental
Track Name: 8105
And we will fall back into the ocean. The mountain tops are hard to see. They tell how far you really are from me. The clouds are thick but they can't hide you. They can't hide you from me. Some things are…some things are here to kill me. But can you feel it now? We're burning up amongst your flames. Amongst your love. Our life. You're like the sun (I am in the earth). And I am earth. Together we're one (It's where you'll find me). But someday your fire will die. And I'll grow cold without sunlight. And I will freeze, baby (You, you're in the sky). I will die (It's where you'll find me). I'd freeze. I'd die for you. One thing I know you didn't know, was how to fall head first hand in hand into the ocean blue. We count down, take a breath, and jump. We're falling. You scream: baby, we're simply growing. I think: baby, I wouldn't mind to die like this. I may not say everything that's on my mind. I am in the earth. It's where you'll find me. You're in the sky. Far from you, from you, from you, oh oh. Don't fret baby, we're simply growing. And my darling, I wouldn't mind to die like this. Don't fret baby, we're simply growing. Don't fret babe, the sun is coming.
Track Name: Bottom Feeder
instrumental
Track Name: Sol Solis
Take your hands away from your face so I can see. Everything you are and everything you used to be. You used to be, to me, something you don't want to be. I know you. You're like the sun, and I am earth, together we're one. And someday. Your fire will die, and I'll grow cold without sunlight. And I will freeze, baby. I will die I'll freeze I'll die for you. Because things, they always die. Just give it time. They always die. And we, someday we'll see our love will shine. Our love will shine. Your love won't fade darling. Lover I cannot do this alone. Things like these are better off untold. Someday the sun will die and I'll grow cold. I hope someday your love finds its way home.
Track Name: Grow On, Grow Up, Grow Out
Oh God, what the fuck is going on with me and everyone. It's you and me. Someday we'll see the end. Because you're in the sky and I'm in the earth. But this time it's different. I swear to God. The sun's exploding within my arms. And it's getting warmer and I can see. That the sun is truly in love with me. Because you and I. Were blown away by love and hope for better days. You and I were blown away
Track Name: The Earth And The Sun
instrumental
Track Name: Ode We Will Bury Ourselves
God you took a lot from me. I don't ask for much. Just a sense of security. And all I ever wanted, was a minute of your time. Someday the trees will sing, a song of hope to bring a lovely winter morning where you and I are growing into an apple tree where the sun will kiss our face. And we'll grow. Just fall away. Just let it go. For you. I'd run away. Because you are something to hold onto, a fault in the crust I fell through. You live and you learn you love nothing will change what I'm made. And hopefully God will find a reason for our love to bleed and fertilize the earth we walk from fragile seeds. Someday the trees will sing: Hallelujah. And we will bury our souls in the ground. Hallelujah. And I am in the earth. And you're in the sky: Hallelujah. And nothing will change what you are: Hallelujah. And someday the trees will sing.
